Jordan Vaughan Smith

Jordan became personally invested in David's dream of CAVU when she joined him in founding the organization in February, 2004. She was instrumental in the articulation of CAVU's strategic vision and business plan, and shortly thereafter in the organization's leap from Costa Rican "Asociacion" to US Public Charity. Within three years, Jordan’s involvement in all aspects of CAVU was such that the board elected her Executive Director. Today, Jordan works with partners developing project work plans that ensure on-the-ground conservation actions are created from CAVU’s educational films and flight programs. She continues to closely monitor CAVU’s finances, ensuring all operations remain lean and efficient, such that dollars spent equal conservation successes.

Jordan grew up in San Antonio, Texas where she developed her love for the outdoors. Her early fascination with international affairs, economics and travel led her to the American University of Paris, where she graduated with a BA in International Economics. Those same interests next took her to Istanbul, where she worked with brokerage firm FinansInvest, conducting quantitative market analysis on the Istanbul Stock Exchange. Two years later, Jordan returned to the United States, where she worked for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage as a mortgage consultant. In December 2003, Jordan left Wells Fargo to work full time on the development of CAVU in Costa Rica.

Jordan’s goal for CAVU is to facilitate its success as a vital public charity that creates visible conservation results and leverages its partners' work in the field.
